Yasmine Nahlawi holds a PhD in Public International Law and an LLM in International Legal Studies from Newcastle University, as well as a BSc in Political Science from Eastern Michigan University. Her research interests lie in the examination of international legal dimensions of the ‘responsibility to protect’ (R2P) doctrine, with focus on the Syrian conflict. She has published widely, including her book ‘The Responsibility to Protect in Libya and Syria: Mass Atrocities, Human Protection, and International Law’ (Routledge 2019). Yasmine has presented her work in both UK and EU Parliaments and has appeared on television and radio forums including Channel 4 and various BBC programmes to comment upon developments within Syria.
