Yasmine Nahlawi

YasmineNahlawiYasmine Nahlawi completed her B.Sc. in Political Science from Eastern Michigan University in 2010 and her LLM in International Legal Studies from Newcastle University in 2012. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate of International Law at Newcastle University, where she is researching the application of the responsibility to protect (R2P) doctrine within the Syrian and Libyan cases. Yasmine is also the External Affairs Director of the Syrian Legal Development Programme, a non-governmental organisation that aims to empower the Syrian people through educational programmes focusing on international law, enabling them to build a future Syria that is premised upon human rights and the rule of law. She is also a volunteer researcher with Themis Think Tank and a leadership member of RAPAR, a Manchester-based human rights organisation that works with refugees and people seeking asylum.
